What this is

TheChurchesAtlas is a free directory of churches in the United States, organised by state and city. Every listing has an address; most have a phone number, and where a business publishes its hours or services we show those too. Listings come from open data and from the businesses themselves, who can correct their card at any time — about the directory. Nothing on the lists is paid placement.

Pick a state above, or use the “near me” button to jump to the churches closest to you. City pages show the full list with a map; state pages collect smaller towns that have a single church.

Popular cities

Visiting for the first time? Check the congregation’s own website or call for service times, since they change with the season and on holidays. Most welcome visitors without an appointment; if you are unsure what to wear or what to expect, ask before you go.

Common questions

What time are services held?

It depends on the faith and the congregation. Many Christian churches meet on Sunday morning, mosques gather for Friday midday prayer, and synagogues hold services on Friday evening and Saturday. Times shift on holidays, so check the congregation’s own website or call ahead.

How do I find a service in my language?

Use the language sections on this site, such as Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Haitian or African congregations. Places there carry the language or community in their name or category. Many congregations also hold services in more than one language, so ask which service is offered in yours.

Can I visit a place of worship for the first time without signing up?

Generally yes. Most congregations welcome first-time visitors at regular services without an appointment or membership. Some ask visitors to follow a dress or head-covering custom, and a few hold closed or members-only gatherings, so a short call or a look at the website helps.

What is the difference between denominations?

A denomination is a group of congregations that share a tradition, beliefs and often a governing body. Catholic, Orthodox, Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Episcopal and Pentecostal churches differ in worship style, leadership and teaching. This directory lists them side by side and does not rank or compare them.
